The Wrap is reporting American Idol is in for a major shake-up.

Going: the four judges (too bad, I really liked Nicki), Nygel Lythgoe & the dreaded theme nights.

Kevin Reilly, Fox Broadcasting Chairman in charge of fixing Idol wants an end to the Diva paychecks (Mariah at $18m and Nicki at $12m), corny gimmicks, and stale sets. No word on Freemantle's future with the show and no word if slightly smarmy Ryan Seacrest will return. Also, definitely no JLo.

Idol is still a money-maker for FOX and the network wants to hold on to it despite dipping viewership --series low at 11 million viewers last week. They also have nothing to replace the ailing show.
